Everything the Rapid Rootrainers do, in a smaller tray. There are 20 cells, 8cm deep, in five books, with a holding tray and a clear lid, and the whole thing measures 24 x 22cm, so it fits a narrow windowsill or a shelf in a small greenhouse.
It's the one for gardeners growing in pots and on balconies, who want a tray of salad, herbs or bedding without a dozen seedlings too many. The grooved cells send roots straight down, and when they meet the air at the base they stop, so the plant makes more roots higher up instead of circling.
Open a book to check the roots or to lift a plant out whole at planting time. They're reusable, so give them a wash at the end of the season and put them away for next year. If you're sowing sweet peas or beans, go for the Deep Rootrainers instead.
