White Forget-me-not Seeds
While the classic blue Forget-me-not is lovely, this pure white variety brings a crisp, sophisticated elegance to the spring garden. It forms low, neat mounds of fuzzy green foliage that become completely smothered in clouds of snowy-white, starry flowers from April to June.
This is the ultimate plant for "lighting up" a dark corner. Because white reflects the lowest levels of light, a drift of these under a tree or in a shady border will seem to glow, especially at twilight. It is also the perfect neutral foil for spring bulbs, creating a frothy white carpet that makes the bold colours of Tulips and Wallflowers pop.

🌿 Understanding the Plant
Myosotis sylvatica (White form) is a robust Hardy Biennial (H7). It is perfectly adapted to the UK climate, surviving even the harshest winters down to -20°C. It operates on a two-year cycle: growing a low rosette of fuzzy green leaves in its first year and exploding into its iconic white floral clouds the following spring.
The Ultimate Self-Seeder: This variety is a champion of the low-maintenance garden. If allowed to set seed after flowering, it will establish a self-sustaining colony that wanders naturally through your borders. To maintain a pure white colour scheme, we recommend pulling up any rogue blue seedlings that may occasionally drift in from surrounding gardens.
Spring Biodiversity: Listed on the RHS Plants for Pollinators list, Forget-me-nots provide a vital early-season nectar source for queen bumblebees and other insects emerging from hibernation, making them an essential choice for the wildlife-friendly spring garden.
🌱 Growing Guide
Forget-me-nots are remarkably easy and forgiving to grow from seed, often thriving with minimal intervention.
How to Sow:
Sow directly outdoors from May to July into a well-prepared seedbed or directly into their flowering positions. Scatter the seeds onto a patch of raked, bare soil and cover very lightly. Keep the area moist until germination, which usually occurs within 14-21 days.
Where to Plant:
They thrive in shade or partial shade, mimicking their natural woodland home. They are the perfect solution for planting under deciduous trees or shrubs. While they will grow in full sun, the soil must be kept moisture-retentive to prevent the foliage from wilting in the heat.
Ongoing Care:
In September or October, dig up the young green rosettes and move them to their final flowering positions. This is the ideal time to plant them in drifts alongside Wallflowers for a layered spring display. Once flowering finishes in June, the foliage may develop powdery mildew (a white dust)—simply pull up the plants and compost them, as they will have already dropped their seeds for next year.
