Forget-me-not 'Victoria Mixed' Seeds
No spring bulb display is complete without a carpet of Forget-me-nots to set it off. 'Victoria Mixed' is a superior, compact variety that produces neat, ball-shaped mounds covered in tiny, starry flowers.
Unlike the wild single-colour type, this mix offers a charming pastel palette of azure blue, soft rose-pink, and snowy white. It is the ultimate "filler" plant, knitting together gaps in borders, hiding the bare soil in containers, and providing a frothy, cloud-like base that makes tulips and daffodils look twice as impressive.

🌿 Understanding the Plant
Forget-me-not is a Hardy Biennial.
It follows the two-year cycle:
Year 1: Sow in late spring/summer. It grows a low rosette of fuzzy green leaves.
Year 2: It bursts into flower the following spring (April-June), sets seed, and dies.
The Self-Seeder: This plant is famous for spreading itself around. If you leave the plants to go to seed, you will have a free supply of Forget-me-nots forever! If you want to stop it spreading, simply pull the plants up as soon as they finish flowering.
🌱 Growing Guide: How to Sow and Grow
This is one of the easiest plants to grow from seed.
Germination:
Sow directly outdoors from May to July. Scatter the seeds onto a patch of bare soil or into a seedbed. Cover lightly. Germination takes 14-21 days.
Where to Sow:
They are incredibly versatile. They love shade or semi-shade (perfect for under trees) but will also grow in sun if the soil is moist. They thrive in damp, clay soils where other bedding plants might rot.
Care While Growing:
The Autumn Move: In October, dig up your little green plants and move them to their final flowering position (e.g., interplanting them with your tulip bulbs). Water them in well.

🤝 Perfect Garden Companions
Forget-me-nots are the ultimate partner plant. Try these classic combinations:
- 🌷 Tulips (Any Colour): The Spring Classic. The most famous duo in gardening. The low carpet of Forget-me-nots hides the soil and supports the tall stems of the tulips. The pastel mix looks especially good with 'Angelique' or white tulips.
- 🔥 Wallflower 'Fire King': Fire & Ice. The cool blues and whites of the Forget-me-nots provide a stunning contrast to the fiery orange of the Wallflower. Both bloom at exactly the same time.
📅 Sowing & Flowering Calendar
Sow in summer. Plant out in autumn. Flowers the following spring (April-June).

⚠️ Mildew Watch
Forget-me-nots are prone to Powdery Mildew (white dust on leaves) once they finish flowering in June. This is normal! Simply pull the plants up and compost them once they look scruffy—they will have already dropped their seeds for next year.
🏆 Officially Recognised Excellence
Forget-me-not is one of the most important plants for early season biodiversity. It is listed on the RHS Plants for Pollinators list, providing vital nectar for waking bees in spring.
