About this variety
We are going to be unusually blunt about this one, because there is very little verifiable information attached to it.
Texas Reaper comes from an American grower as an F3 selection, which means it is three generations into a breeding line and nowhere near fixed. The seller's own description runs to a single sentence: pods a little larger than a Carolina Reaper, without the Reaper's tail, insanely hot, and colour and shape will vary because of the generation it is at. That is the whole of what is documented.
No laboratory figure exists for it, and we are not going to invent one. No breeder, date or parentage has been published either. Treat it as a Reaper-type superhot of unknown exact heat and expect meaningful variation between your plants. Grow it as you would any Reaper relative: sow in January in a heated propagator, grow on under glass, and expect ripe pods late in the season. Wear gloves. If you want a superhot you can predict, buy the Carolina Reaper. If you enjoy growing something unfinished and seeing what turns up, this is exactly that.
