About this variety
A dark-podded Naga that ripens to deep chocolate brown instead of the usual red. The pods are large, reportedly bigger than a Chocolate Bhut Jolokia, and they hang on a bushy plant of 80cm to 1.2m that crops well.
We will be honest about what is not known here. Nobody has published a breeder, a date or a parentage for this variety. Sellers put it at 700,000 to 800,000 Scoville units, which is entirely plausible for a Naga, though no laboratory has ever tested it. And the line is not stable. Some plants will throw red pods instead of brown ones. If the colour is the reason you are buying, grow more than one and accept that not all of them will oblige.
Otherwise treat it as a standard superhot. Sow in January or February at around 25C in a heated propagator, grow it on under glass, and expect ripe pods from September. It will not ripen outdoors in a British summer. Wear gloves.
