About this product
Hand-carved from natural soapstone, with an intricate arched cut-out inspired by traditional Moroccan architecture. The light comes through the arches rather than around them, which is what gives it that particular patterned glow.
Because soapstone is a natural material, no two are the same. Each one has its own marbling and its own earthy colour, so the piece you receive will not match the photograph exactly. That is the nature of the stone rather than a flaw, and it is the reason these are worth having.
The weight is the giveaway on quality. Stone has a heft that ceramic does not, and it sits solidly enough to feel like an object on a mantelpiece or a bedside table rather than an accessory. Soapstone also holds heat evenly, which matters more than it sounds: the dish is set at the right distance above the flame so the wax warms steadily and releases its fragrance slowly instead of scorching.
Takes a standard 4-hour unscented tealight and any of our botanical wax melts.
Never leave a lit burner unattended. Stand it on a heat-resistant surface away from children, pets, draughts and anything that could catch, and let it cool completely before you move it or change the wax.
