About this product

Six Highland cow designs: a full-length cow, a plain head, a head crowned with flowers, a straight-on face, two calves peeking round a post, and one looking over a fence.

The peeking designs are made for fence posts and the top of a fence, where they give visitors a small surprise. The heads are worth hanging where you can see the detail up close, as the shaggy fringe is the best bit. These make an easy present for anyone with a soft spot for Highland cattle.

They're cut from mild steel and supplied raw, so they start out silvery grey and weather to a warm rust brown within a few weeks outside. The rust is the finish and needs no painting or sealing, but while it settles it can streak pale render or stone underneath. Each piece has pre-drilled holes; screws aren't included so you can choose fixings to suit your wall. Designed in Norfolk by LV Bespoke and made in Britain.

Care and use

  • Arrives silvery grey and weathers to a warm rust brown within a few weeks outdoors
  • No painting or sealing needed the rust patina is the finish
  • Fix through the pre-drilled holes with exterior-grade screws suited to your wall, fence or shed
  • Use wall plugs in brick or render; the 750mm size weighs around 4.5kg
  • Rust can run onto pale render, stone or paving while it weathers in fit small spacers behind the piece if that matters
  • A clear wax on arrival slows the rusting if you want to keep it grey for longer
