How it unfolds in a room

  1. Top Taif Rose and PeonyThe first hit: a fresh, elegant floral introduction that feels light and airy.
  2. Heart Damask Rose, Clove, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, and PalmarosaThe heart: warm, spicy, and deeply floral, creating that signature "velvet" feel.
  3. Base Oud Wood, Musk, Patchouli, Vanilla, and PralineThe lingering trail: smoky, sweet, and velvety, providing a grounded, luxurious finish.

About this scent

Deep, floral and unashamedly opulent. Blooming Damask rose wrapped in smoky oud wood, with a hint of sweet praline behind it.

This is the moody end of the range, for people who find most floral candles too polite. It suits a dinner table, a dark evening and a room you want to feel like an occasion. The wick is FSC-certified wood rather than cotton, so it crackles gently as it burns. The crackle is what tips it from a scent into an atmosphere.

It is strong, so start with the medium if the room is small. Hand-poured in our Norfolk studio using 100% natural soy wax, and available in two sizes.

Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep it away from children, pets, draughts and anything that could catch, burn it on a heat-resistant surface, and trim the wooden wick to about 5mm before each light.

The Masculine Match. If 'Velvet Rose' is the feminine side of luxury, 'Dark Honey' is the perfect masculine counterpart. Both share a rich, smoky depth that works beautifully together.

The Spa Match. Combine the deep rose notes with exotic lily and warm amber for a whole-house fragrance that smells like a five-star boutique hotel.
