About this product

Full description

Most garden ornaments stand to attention. The lovely thing about this piece is that it doesn't. Five slim steel stalks emerge from a single base point, each topped with a coloured glass marble — and the gardener decides how splayed or tightly bunched the cluster sits. Pull them together for a tight nodding bouquet, splay them wide for an exuberant fan, or settle them somewhere in between. The piece becomes part of how you choose to arrange it.

From LV Bespoke, our trusted Norfolk maker — supplied in raw steel, designed to weather and rust into a soft patina that lets the piece settle into your planting beautifully. Available in a wide range of named marble varieties, so you can pick the colours and patterns to match a specific border, season, or planting scheme.

The splay design

The five stalks are welded to a single base stake but can be bent and arranged into different shapes — that's the genuinely distinctive design choice here:

  • Tightly bunched — keep the stalks close together for a compact "bouquet" of marbles, perfect for tucking amongst dense planting
  • Splayed wide — open the cluster out for a more dramatic, exuberant fan shape that fills a wider visual space
  • Asymmetric arrangements — bend some stalks more than others for a naturalistic, slightly windblown shape
  • Reset over time — the steel holds its arrangement but can be gently rearranged whenever you fancy a different look

The result is a small piece of decoration that's properly yours — a single ornament that becomes a different ornament depending on how you place it.

Choosing your marble

The marble varieties are listed individually in the dropdown above, and each has its own colour palette and visual character. The variant photos show them clearly — well worth looking through before deciding. Some general pairings worth thinking about when matching to your garden:

  • Cool blues and greens (Aegean, Neptune, Snorkel, Lustered Blue, Arctic, Snowflake) — for calm, naturalistic borders with grasses and silver foliage
  • Hot pinks, oranges and reds (Funfair, Watermelon, Bumblebee, Super Nova, Firefly) — for a dahlia bed, a hot border, or any scheme with bold summer colour
  • Mixed jewel tones (Van Gogh, Michelangelo, Glitterbomb, Princess) — for cottage garden planting with mixed perennials and abundant colour
  • Whites, clears and ices (Vapour, Ice, Soap Bubble) — for a quieter, more contemplative spot — particularly lovely in a moonlight garden
  • Warm tones and naturalistic patterns (Sea Turtle, Fungus, Lemon Sorbet, Gelato) — for autumn planting, prairie-style schemes, or anywhere you want the cluster to harmonise with the rust of the steel itself
  • Striking pattern marbles (Poison Frog, Sea Turtle, Bumblebee, Jellyfish, Fairy) — for borders where you want a real focal point

Where it looks loveliest

At 750mm tall, this is a low-level piece designed to live amongst planting rather than above it:

  • Tucked into a herbaceous border — peeking out between hardy geraniums, salvias and lady's mantle
  • Amongst lower planting — hostas, heucheras, low-growing sedums, where the marbles show clearly
  • In containers — particularly stuffed with annuals or trailing planting where the cluster adds vertical interest
  • In a meadow or wildflower patch — splayed wide to mimic the form of the surrounding flowers
  • Near a path or pathway at low level, where you'll catch the light on the marbles as you walk past
  • In a courtyard or gravel garden — where the marbles' colours read clearly against gravel and stone
  • By a sitting spot or bench — at exactly the right height to be admired from a chair

The rust patina

The steel stake and stalks are supplied raw and will develop a natural rust patina over time, particularly outdoors. Within a few weeks they'll begin to take on a warm, mottled rust tone; over months and seasons it deepens further. The contrast between rust-toned steel and bright coloured glass is genuinely beautiful as it ages.

The marbles themselves don't change — they keep their original colour indefinitely.

If you'd prefer to slow the rusting, a clear protective wax or matte lacquer on the steel before placement will hold off the patina considerably. Most owners come to love the natural ageing.

About LV Bespoke

LV Bespoke is a small Norfolk maker producing handcrafted metal accessories for the garden and home. Each piece is made by hand in raw steel — designed to do its job quietly, age gracefully, and look like it belongs. We're proud to stock their work; objects with this kind of character don't come from factories, they come from somebody's careful hands.

A small thought: the loveliest decorative pieces are the ones that don't take themselves too seriously. Five glass marbles on splayable steel stalks aren't pretending to be high art — they're a small piece of joy at low level in your border, catching light on summer afternoons and quietly ageing into something rather magical. The kind of garden ornament that makes you smile every time you walk past.
