Each box is a hand-picked selection of seed packets, chosen by our farm team to work together as a coherent set. The exact contents vary by box — our flower collections might include cosmos, ammi, scabious and sweet peas; our herb collection a mix of culinary classics; our seasonal boxes whatever is best to sow at that time of year. Every individual product page lists exactly what's inside.
Three reasons. First, value — boxes are priced below the sum of their parts, often substantially. Second, curation — we've done the work of choosing varieties that complement each other in habit, height, colour, and bloom time. Third, simplicity — you get a coherent garden in one purchase, rather than agonising over individual choices.
Yes — collection boxes are among our most popular gifts, particularly for someone starting a garden or moving into a new home. Each box arrives in beautiful packaging that doesn't need rewrapping, and the recipient gets months of pleasure from sowing through to flowering. For absolute flexibility, digital gift cards let them choose their own.
The boxes are curated sets, so the contents are fixed — this keeps the price down and lets us prepare them efficiently. If you want a fully bespoke selection, browse our individual seed packets and build your own basket. Many customers do exactly that for a specific border or palette they have in mind.
The seasonal boxes are designed for sowing across the relevant season, not all at once. A Spring box will contain seeds that want sowing across March, April, and May; an Autumn box covers September and October. Sowing instructions on each packet (and a sowing chart often included in the box) walk you through it month by month.
Some of our boxes — notably the Biennial Seed Collection curated with Sophie Valentine — include a QR code that links to a dedicated grow-along page or video series. Sophie talks you through each variety, when to sow, how to care for them, and what to expect. It turns a box of seeds into a guided gardening project.
