NuMex Twilight is an ornamental chilli that earns its place on looks alone. Its tiny upright fruits ripen through purple, cream, orange and red, often all at once on the same plant. It was developed at New Mexico State University, which is where the NuMex name comes from.
It is compact enough for a windowsill or a patio pot, and entirely edible despite the decorative habit. At 30,000 to 50,000 Scoville units it sits alongside cayenne, so do not let the size fool you.
