About this variety

An All-America Selections winner, and one of the few rudbeckias worth growing for something other than yellow. 'Cherokee Sunset' produces doubles, semi-doubles and the occasional single all from the same packet, in bronze, rust, mahogany and burnt gold.

The colours are autumnal from the moment it opens in July, which makes it unusually useful in late summer plantings where everything else is still reading as high summer. It flowers on until the first hard frost.

Stems are strong and it lasts well over a week in water. Sow it early under cover for flowers the same year, or treat it as a short-lived perennial and it will often come again for a second season.
