Cosmos 'Seashells Mix' Seeds
If you look closely at 'Seashells', you'll see why it is so special. Unlike standard flat Cosmos, the petals of this variety are rolled into tubes or funnels, looking exactly like tiny sea shells or trumpets exploding from a yellow centre.
The mix includes a lovely range of shades from pastel pink and pure white to deep carmine and two-tone bi-colours. Standing tall on the classic airy, ferny foliage, these unique blooms add texture and curiosity to any border. They are absolutely fantastic cut flowers, adding a playful, architectural twist to summer bouquets.

🌿 Understanding the Plant
Cosmos 'Seashells' is a Half-Hardy Annual.
It originates from Mexico and loves the sun. It grows rapidly to reach a substantial height (up to 1.2m) in a single season.
The "Treat Mean" Rule: Like all Cosmos, this variety hates rich soil. If you plant it in manured ground or feed it fertilizer, it will produce a massive bush of green leaves but very few flowers. Plant it in poor, dry soil and neglect it for the best display!
🌱 Growing Guide: How to Sow and Grow
Cosmos is reliable and fast, perfect for beginners.
Germination:
Sow indoors from March to April, or directly outdoors in May once the soil warms up. Sow seeds 5mm deep. They germinate quickly (7-14 days) at 20°C.
Where to Sow:
They need full sun. They thrive in poor, sandy, or stony soil. Avoid heavy clay if possible, or add grit to improve drainage.
Care While Growing:
Pinch: When seedlings are 20cm tall, pinch out the top growing tip. This encourages the plant to branch out, giving you more stems and more of those unique flowers.
Support: In windy gardens, give them a bamboo cane or grow them through netting to keep the tall stems upright.

- ❄️ Ammi Majus (Queen Anne's Lace): The Softener. The white lace of Ammi provides a neutral, frothy background that allows the intricate petal shapes of the 'Seashells' Cosmos to stand out.
