Amaranthus Dried

Dried stems, hand-harvested from our Norfolk farm

While most dried stems stand up straight, Amaranthus is designed to drape. This spectacular plant produces long, velvety ropes of deep crimson-burgundy flowers that cascade downwards like heavy chenille curtains.

If your dried flower arrangement feels a bit stiff or static, this is the solution. It draws the eye downwards, creating a beautiful "spilling" effect over the rim of a vase or the edge of a shelf. It is a favourite for autumn styling and adds a touch of opulent, gothic romance to weddings and wreaths.

🌿 About these Stems

These are the air-dried stems of Amaranthus caudatus. They are harvested when the "tassels" are long and fully coloured.

The Texture: The flower ropes feel dry but soft, almost like velvet or pipe cleaners. They are naturally flexible, allowing them to hang beautifully.

🎨 Styling Ideas

Amaranthus is all about gravity and flow:

  • The Pedestal Vase: Place the Amaranthus near the rim of the vase so the tails hang down over the side. This softens the hard edge of the ceramic or glass.
  • Cascading Bouquets: Essential for the "waterfall" wedding bouquet look. It adds movement as you walk down the aisle.
  • Wreaths: Attach the stems at the bottom of a wreath so the tails trail downwards against a door or wall for a striking, medieval look.

Perfect Dried Companions

Create a balanced display by pairing the trailing Amaranthus with upright stems:

  • 🌾 Dried Pampas Grass: The Texture Contrast. The upright, fluffy plumes of Pampas provide height, while the heavy, sleek ropes of Amaranthus provide the downward flow. A luxurious combination.
  • 🌿 Dried Eucalyptus: The Green Foil. The muted grey-green of Eucalyptus leaves is the perfect backdrop for the intense burgundy red of the Amaranthus.

⚠️ Handle with Care
The tiny seeds inside the tassels can sometimes shed a little when moved vigorously. We recommend giving the bunch a very gentle shake outdoors before bringing it inside to place in your vase.

🌿 Care & display tips
Keep your dried flowers out of direct sunlight and away from damp — both will fade and soften the stems over time. No water needed. Arrange loosely in a vase or tie with twine for a hanging display. Handle gently as dried stems can be brittle.
💐 Using in arrangements
Dried flowers work beautifully with other dried stems, pampas grass, and seed heads. If using in a wreath or floral foam, wire the stems first for extra security. For wedding work, we recommend ordering a little extra to allow for any breakage during handling.
📬 Delivery & packaging
Dried flowers are packed carefully in a rigid box to protect the stems in transit. Dispatched within 2–3 working days. All packaging is compostable or recyclable. Free delivery on orders over £30.
