About this variety

The golden beetroot that turned a heritage curiosity into something people actually grow. Boldor makes smooth round roots with sunshine-yellow flesh, sweeter and gentler than the red types, and the colour holds through cooking. No stained board, no stained fingers, no stained kitchen.

It is the beetroot that converts people who think they dislike beetroot, children included. Roasted, it caramelises to a richness the red varieties cannot match. Sliced raw it brings colour to a plate where everything else is green. The young leaves are mild enough for salad, so one sowing gives you two crops.

Germination is slower than red beetroot and the seedlings less vigorous, so sow a little thicker than you think you need. As an F1 hybrid, saved seed will not come true — that is the trade for the uniformity.
