About this variety
The first Savoy to offer genuine club root resistance, which changes everything if your ground has grown brassicas before. Club root is soil-borne, effectively permanent once present, and it reduces conventional cabbages to stunted plants with swollen distorted roots and no usable crop. Cordesa was bred to grow normally in infested soil.
Beyond that it is a proper Savoy — compact heavy heads with the deeply crinkled blue-green leaves that catch sauces and hold their structure through slow cooking. The flavour is fuller and less harsh than smooth-leaved cabbage. Some cooks call Savoy the cabbage for people who actually like cabbage.
It stands well through autumn frosts, so you can cut heads as you need them from September into early December rather than all at once. An F1 hybrid, so saved seed will not come true.
