Dried Bupleurum Bunch (Hare's Ear)

If your dried flower arrangement is looking a little too beige or brown, Bupleurum is the instant fix. This fantastic filler plant dries to a vibrant, zesty shade of lime-green/chartreuse, mimicking the look of fresh foliage.

Also known as 'Hare's Ear', it produces wiry, branching stems that mimic the structure of Euphorbia. It adds essential "air" and movement to a bouquet, breaking up heavy blooms and making the whole arrangement look hand-picked from a summer meadow. It is the perfect natural alternative to dyed or preserved greenery.

🌿 About these Stems

These are the air-dried stems of Bupleurum rotundifolium 'Griffithii'.

The Texture: The stems are stiff and branching, creating a scaffold that helps support other flowers in a vase. The "flowers" are actually bracts (leaves) which is why they hold their colour so well.

🎨 Styling Ideas

Bupleurum is the ultimate "mixer" stem:

  • The Foliage Swap: Use it anywhere you would use fresh leaves or eucalyptus. It frames colourful flowers perfectly without looking heavy.
  • Wreaths: Snip the branching stems into smaller pieces. They are stiff and easy to tuck into moss or vine wreaths to add 3D texture and colour.
  • The "Just Picked" Look: Mix simply with white Daisies or Statice for a fresh, clean, spring-like arrangement that lasts for years.

Perfect Dried Companions

The lime green colour makes almost every other colour pop:

  • 🧡 Dried Carthamus (Orange): The Citrus Mix. Lime green and vibrant orange are a high-energy, zestful combination. This pairing looks fantastic in modern kitchens or sunny hallways.
  • 🌸 Dried Rhodanthe (Pink): The Meadow Look. The soft, papery pink daisies look incredibly sweet nestled among the architectural green stems of the Bupleurum. A classic cottage garden vibe.

⚠️ Colour Care
Green pigments in dried flowers are sensitive to UV light. To keep your Bupleurum looking zesty lime rather than straw-yellow, keep it out of direct, harsh sunlight.

🌿 Care & display tips
Keep your dried flowers out of direct sunlight and away from damp — both will fade and soften the stems over time. No water needed. Arrange loosely in a vase or tie with twine for a hanging display. Handle gently as dried stems can be brittle.
💐 Using in arrangements
Dried flowers work beautifully with other dried stems, pampas grass, and seed heads. If using in a wreath or floral foam, wire the stems first for extra security. For wedding work, we recommend ordering a little extra to allow for any breakage during handling.
📬 Delivery & packaging
Dried flowers are packed carefully in a rigid box to protect the stems in transit. Dispatched within 2–3 working days. All packaging is compostable or recyclable. Free delivery on orders over £30.
