Strongly scented and a gorgeous fiery mix of reds and oranges, these biennial plants are easy to grow and are a welcome boost of colour early in the spring. They make a great cut flower and look wonderful in a vase, along with some tulips
Quantity of Seeds | 50 Seeds |
Type | Perennial grown as a biennial |
Genus | Erysimum cheiri |
Sow Seeds |
When the soil is warm, which should be between the end of May-July, sow seeds outside in a seedbed that has been thoroughly prepared. You can also choose to sow the seeds indoors in modules, but make sure to keep them in the shade and maintain moderate temperatures. The heat will hinder the germination process of wallflowers. Provide a moist and shaded environment for the seed trays. 7–14 days to germinate at 15–18℃. Grow on for another 6 weeks, and then plant outside in late August or early September. |
Plant Out | After the last frosts |
Flowers |
March onwards |
Height & Spread |
30-40cm high x 30-40cm spread |
RHS Plants for Pollinators.
The RHS Plants for Pollinators mark is only given to plants that support pollinating insects.

I came across Bishybarnabees through Sophie @ lookinsidemygarden. I tried one of the seed boxes for a grow along and honestly I’ve been hooked since. I’ve placed multiple orders and I have to say the germination rate on these seeds is always superb.
I’ve ordered for me, my mum, my sister…
Have yet to sow and plant out
I have great expectations for these ‘Fire King’ and ‘Ruby Gem’. We love mixed wallflowers but are looking forward to growing these named varieties for next years garden full of scent and colour just for a change. Will let you know more as the season progresses. Great service and prompt delivery. Many thanks
