The Meadow Flower Collection

You don't need a five-acre field to enjoy the romance of wildflowers. This collection is designed for the gardener who wants that airy, relaxed "meadow" aesthetic but within the tidy confines of a flower bed. We have selected 5 individual packets of our favourite native-style flowers that thrive in standard garden soil.

This isn't a bag of mixed grass seed to scatter on a lawn; it is a collection of high-performing individual flowers. By sowing them in drifts through your borders, you can create a "designed wildness"—a tapestry of waving stems, jewel-like colours, and buzzing life that looks intentional and beautiful, rather than messy.

📦 What's in the Box? (5 Packets)

You will receive 5 full-sized packets of seeds, each chosen to provide a different layer of the "meadow" look:

  • 🔴 Flanders Poppy (Papaver rhoeas): The icon of the fields. We include this for the splash of vibrant scarlet red that dances in the wind. It is the perfect "weaver" plant to scatter between green foliage.
  • 🌸 Red Campion (Silene dioica): The hedgerow hero. This short-lived perennial produces masses of bright rose-pink flowers. It is incredibly versatile, thriving in both sun and partial shade where other flowers might struggle.
  • 💜 Corncockle (Agrostemma githago): A rare, elegant beauty with tall, slender stems and silky magenta-purple trumpets. It adds height and graceful movement to the planting scheme.
  • 🦋 Scabious 'Imperial Mix' (Scabiosa atropurpurea): The "pincushion" flower. This adds a sophisticated touch with tall, wiry stems topped with nectar-rich blooms in shades of rich maroon, pink, and lavender.
  • 🥕 Wild Carrot (Daucus carota): The ultimate architectural filler. Its flat, lacy white umbels provide that essential "cow parsley" look, followed by stunning bird's nest seed heads for winter structure.

🌱 Growing Guide: Creating the Look

These plants are best treated as Hardy Annuals/Biennials in a border setting.

Where to Sow: Unlike meadow mixes, do not throw these into grass! They need bare soil. Prepare a patch of border, weed it well, and rake it to a fine tilth.

When to Sow:
Autumn (Sept-Oct): This mimics nature. Seeds establish roots over winter and produce much bigger, earlier flowering plants next May/June.
Spring (March-May): For a classic summer display that blooms from July onwards.

Design Tip: Don't plant in straight rows. Sow in irregular "drifts" or kidney-shapes to create a natural, flowing look.
