The Pink Reaper is a cutting-edge and highly stable phenotype within the Capsicum chinense genus, the species responsible for the vast majority of the world's most extreme chilli peppers. It is a specific, carefully cultivated variant that emerged from the lineage of the infamous Carolina Reaper, which itself was bred in the USA by Ed Currie. The "Pink" characteristic is a result of meticulous selective breeding, stabilizing a unique pastel colouration while retaining the extreme heat and the distinctive gnarly morphology of its Reaper parent. It represents a fascinating development in the world of ultra-hot chillies, combining unparalleled pungency with a rare and beautiful aesthetic.
Due to its astonishing heat, extreme caution is non-negotiable. Always wear protective gloves and eyewear, and avoid any direct contact with skin, eyes, and mucous membranes. Use in incredibly small quantities and with the utmost respect. Not recommended for casual consumption.

Scoville Rating/Heat Level | the Pink Reaper is an absolute titan of heat. It typically registers between 1,500,000 to over 2,200,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU). This places it firmly in the very top tier of the world's hottest chillies, often rivalling or even surpassing the heat of the original Carolina Reaper. Expect an immediate, agonizing, and prolonged burn that quickly engulfs the entire palate and body, providing an almost spiritual experience for the truly dedicated chillihead. |
Plant Size | The Pink Reaper plant is a vigorous and often sprawling grower, typically reaching a height of 90-120 cm (36-48 inches). It develops a sturdy main stem and numerous lateral branches, often benefiting from substantial staking or support due to its impressive productivity and the weight of its substantial fruit. |
Pod Size | The pods are visually distinctive and incredibly appealing, despite their menacing nature. They ripen from a light green to a unique, glossy pastel pink or light salmon colour when fully mature, often with hints of mottling. They are generally large, measuring 4-7 cm (1.6-2.8 inches) in length and 3-5 cm (1.2-2 inches) in diameter, exhibiting the highly irregular, gnarled, and deeply wrinkled surface characteristic of many extreme super-hot C. chinense varieties. Many pods feature the notorious, pointed "scorpion's tail" at the blossom end, a clear hallmark of its Reaper lineage. |
Flavour | The Pink Reaper offers a surprisingly complex and sought-after flavour profile. It possesses a distinct fruity sweetness with bright citrus undertones, often described as having hints of cherry, apricot, or even a subtle floral note. This initial burst of flavour provides a fantastic, albeit fleeting, contrast to the intense, building heat. Its robust and unique flavour makes it an exceptional ingredient for crafting mind-blowingly hot sauces, extreme chilli powders, or for use in very minute quantities in exotic fruit salsas, BBQ rubs, or any dish where maximum heat with a complex, sweet, and aromatic flavour profile is desired. |
Growing Conditions |
Peppers thrive in warm, sunny conditions and well-drained soil. Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost, then transplant them outdoors when temperatures remain consistently above 60°F (16°C). Water regularly, but avoid overwatering, as peppers prefer slightly dry conditions between watering. With proper care, these plants will produce an abundant harvest of delicious, small peppers throughout the growing season. |
All plants are grown on our farm in Norfolk, UK and are grown in an open pollinated area.
