The 7 Pot Yellow is a famous member of the 7 Pot family from Trinidad and Tobago, named for its legendary heat — reputedly one pod can spice up seven pots of stew. Compared to its red relatives, the yellow variety offers a slightly milder but still ferocious heat, along with a fruity, citrus-like flavour that makes it a favourite for many.

The 7 Pot Yellow is a stunning superhot chilli that combines ferocious heat with a bright, fruity, tropical flavour. With careful propagation, warm growing conditions, and regular feeding, it will reward growers with a bountiful harvest of eye-catching yellow pods that light up the garden and the kitchen

Quantity of Seeds 10 seeds per packet
Origin Trinidad and Tobago
Genus Capsicum Chinense
Scoville Rating/Heat Level Around 800,000–1,000,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU) — very hot, but often described as slightly less aggressive and more manageable than the red 7 Pot.
Plant Size Typically grows 80–120 cm (2.5–4 feet) tall.  Bushy, well-branched, and vigorous.  Dark green, pointed leaves with a slightly glossy sheen.  Small, creamy white flowers typical of Capsicum chinense species.  Heavy producer under good conditions — can yield dozens of pods per plant over a season.
Pod Size

Pods are wrinkled, bumpy, and sometimes slightly pitted, shaped like small lanterns or squat hearts. Size ranges from 4–6 cm (1.5–2.5 inches) long.  Ripens from pale green to vibrant yellow, often with a glowing, almost fluorescent tone when fully mature.

Flavour Distinctively fruity, tropical, and citrusy, with floral undertones. The bright flavour makes it a favourite for yellow hot sauces, salsas, and chutneys.  Ideal for fresh use (with caution), sauces, powders, or pickling. Handle with gloves and avoid contact with eyes and sensitive skin!
Growing Conditions

Sow seeds indoors 8–12 weeks before the last frost date.  Use a fine, well-draining seed-starting mix.  Plant seeds about 0.5 cm (¼ inch) deep.  Maintain soil temperatures of 27–32°C — a heat mat is often essential for reliable germination.  Cover trays with a humidity dome or plastic wrap to maintain moisture. When seedlings have at least 2–4 true leaves, transplant into individual pots. Gradually harden off outdoors over 7–10 days before planting outside. Needs full sun, at least 6–8 hours daily.  Keep soil consistently moist but not soggy; water at the base to avoid wetting foliage.  Start with a balanced fertiliser during early growth; switch to a high-potassium feed (like tomato fertilizer) once flowering starts.

All plants are grown on our farm in Norfolk, UK and are grown in an open pollinated area.
