Product Details
Description
Fennel Romanesco is grown for its large, succulent bulbs, unlike some other fennel which is grown in the herb bed primarily for its seeds.
Fennel Romanesco has a mild aniseed flavour and the whole plant can be used. The leaves are wonderful in fish dishes and the bulb and stems can be used chopped raw into salads, braised or added to casseroles.
Plant Care Tips
Sow thinly Apr/May direct where they are to grow
Sow 2 cm deep in rows. Space 35cm between the rows
Fennel does not like root disturbance. Thin seedlings when large enough to handle to 25cm apart
As the swollen stems develop, gradually build up the earth around them to develop the flavour
Leaves can be harvested from July
Harvest the bulb Sept/Oct
