The Bishops Crown Chilli is a moderately hot pepper, known by Brazilians as Ubatuba Cambuci and popularised by the two Brazilian towns of the same name, it also has other names such as Joker's Hat, Aji Flor, Balloon, and Christmas Bell.
The plant needs space to grow as it can reach up to 2m tall, but can produce a good crop of 50-100 pods and is good for overwintering. The plant can yield an impressive yield of up to 50-100 pods, making it an ideal chilli for those looking to store their harvest.
An additional variety of the Bishop's Crown exists, known as the Nepalese Bell, which is ideal if you can find seeds.

Growing Info
Sow seedlings in the spring in a sunny and sheltered area. Bishops Crown Chilli has the potential to reach 1.5-2m in height and should be kept in full sun with consistent heat for the best results. Germination can be on the slow side and take a few weeks.
Ideally, Bishops Crown Chilli plants thrive in a temperature of 20°C, with cooler-temperate climates best suited for a greenhouse or polytunnel. It should be noted that ripening takes an extended period.
Cooking & Eating
This chilli offers a variety of uses, including stuffing and grilling with cheese, adding to salads, and topping with cheese. Grill whole. Stuff. Dice and add to salads and salsas. Finely chop with garlic, spring onion and a smaller hotter chilli and fold through couscous with butter and seasoning. Pickle the smaller ones whole.
