Bishy Barnabees Cottage Garden
Chicory Wild
Wild Chicory Seeds (Cichorium intybus)
Bring a touch of the wild meadow to your garden with Wild Chicory (Cichorium intybus). This resilient hardy perennial produces stunning, clear sky-blue, daisy-like flowers that open in the morning sun throughout summer. It's a fantastic plant for attracting bees and other pollinators and looks wonderful naturalised in a border or a dedicated wildlife area.
Bees, butterflies, and hoverflies are particularly drawn to the bright blue blooms that bloom on the slender, woody stalks produced by this plant.
Full light and sandy soil or dry grasslands are ideal growing conditions for this plant. As the morning progresses into the afternoon, the lovely blue blooms unfold their petals, but by afternoon they have closed again.
A key plant for our Seeds for Pollinators collection and a tough contender for the Perennial Flower Seeds collection!
